The Midnight Studios x Converse Pro Leather Mid White follows on from the American street style label’s hugely-popular 2018 collaboration, this time offering a subtle yet individual take on a classic silhouette. Shane Gonzales founded Midnight Studios in 2014 aged just 19, combining cultural influences from punk and skate styles. The designer has reworked the Pro Leather, a silhouette originally designed for the basketball market that was adopted by the skate scene due to its heavy durability and reinforced ankle support. It’s crafted from supple suede and showcases a slimline black-tone star and arrow logo for a familiar Converse look, alongside a premium gold hot-stamped logo. Shane Gonzales adds his own personal touch through displaying the size tag on the external side of the tongue, perhaps a play on the deconstructed aesthetic that is currently popularised throughout all walks of fashion. It sits on top of a clean white midsole and the look is finalised with co-branded laces that can be worn tied around the ankle.
